Modalities
With a thorough health history intake, postural assessment and Orthopedic testing if needed,
I am able to strategize and offer a session that you can appreciate and benefit from.
Sessions can be very productive by combining techniques together. All of the following types of massage have been practiced and taught.
Clients can keep clothing on if they prefer and still benefit from Trigger Point therapy, Shiatsu, Sports Massage, Thai, Reflexology, Stretching and Energy work.

Swedish
Swedish massage is a basic and wonderful massage for your entire body. A session is clothing off (fully draped with sheets), and uses oil/lotion/essential oils to support blood and lymph flow, help calm the nervous system, and allow your mind to relax while you gain body awareness.

Deep Tissue
This style of massage takes your Swedish a bit deeper. A "firm Swedish", some may call it, is given by the therapist by using more tools, such as their elbows, soft fists, and forearms. Focus will be added to specific areas needing more attention and time in order to release tension and stress.

MyoFascial
Release
Release
"Myo" means muscle and "Fascia" is the connective tissue that surrounds and separates our muscles. This style of massage helps to break up any adhesions in the muscles and fascia that may be restricting motion or causing pain. Your therapist will focus on the areas you need and combine this technique with others to help you feel taller, move more freely, and use your body more efficiently.

Pre and Postnatal Massage
Any and all techniques can be used to support our Mamas-to-be and our new Mamas! There are certain"forbidden" points/areas of the body that your therapist will be sure to avoid. Side-lying position may be the most comfortable for you. Help us help you de-stress and feel most comfortable in your "shared" beautiful body. Massage can also be very supportive in the first few months of being a mom, as we tend to roll our shoulders in and hunch our backs in order to carry and/or feed our babies!

Sports Massage
Massage can support all athletes (even the office athletes!) This is a clothing on style of massage that supports the body through stretches, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), and Somatic awareness helping to wake up muscles and allow our brain to connect to our body more powerfully. Allow massage to help you pre-event, post-event, or as ongoing maintenance.

Lymphatic Massage
Edema is swelling in the body, and it can be caused through injury and trauma. Lymphatic massage can help the body's natural healing process by assisting fluid re-uptake in to the Lymphatic and Cardio-vascular system, reducing the inflammation at the site of injury, and allowing your body to speed up the healing process. This massage is rhythmic and gentle.

Trigger Point Therapy Using the Trigger Point "map" created by Janet Travell and others, we will find where the source of your pain may be coming from. Trigger Points in one area of our body may produce pain in other parts nearby. Each muscle can harbor trigger points, which are sections of dense and contracted muscle tissue that restrict movement, refer pain, and create dysfunction in the muscle. Elbows, knuckles and forearms may be used to find that sweet spot. This can be experienced with clothing on or off, while being draped, and incorporated with other modalities.

Shiatsu and Acupressure
Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches us that there are Meridians throughout the body that correlate with our organs and our physiological systems. Acupressure addresses Psubo Points along these Meridians to help ease tension and bring Qi/Energy to that area of the body and that system. Shiatsu is originally from Japan and incorporates the Meridians with stretches and energizing techniques for the whole body. This is done clothing on, or can be incorporated with other modalities. Be ready to feel relaxed and energized at the same time with this incredible style.

Table Thai Massage
Training in Thailand is a special experience! This style of bodywork is "same same, but different" than Shiatsu. Similar in that it can be done on a mat or table and includes stretches and energizing techniques. Thai Massage is supportive in addressing the deeper tissues of the body with forearm techniques, rhythmic compression, and balancing approaches. This is done clothing on, and can be incorporated with other modialities.

Cranial Sacral Balancing
The Cerebrospinal Fluid flows in and around your brain and spinal cord to help cushion them from injury and provide nutrients. With Cranial Sacral Balancing, we address that fluid and encourage it to flow. This is a gentle massage that includes holds at the head, down the spine, and at the sacrum. Breathwork is encouraged, and a deep relaxation allows bones to shift as needed to increase fluid movement. This can support the healing from trauma caused from both internal and external forces.

Foot Reflexology
Ancient medicine teaches us that a map of our body can be found in entirety on our feet (and hands and ears too)! Your right foot reflects the right side of your body and the left foot, the left side. Through a relaxing technique, your therapist will explore your feet and notice if there may be any blockages/dysfunction that may be associated with your organs or your skeletal system. An energizing style of thumbwork, fingerwork, and other techniques are applied to the ankle and feet to improve health and stimulate your systems.

Energy Work/ Chakra Alignment
There are seven chakras, or energy wheels aligned and spinning in the center of our bodies. Each chakra is associated with a type of hormone in our body, as well as ailments that may form in our bodies, colors, frequencies, musical notes, etc. In a truly holistic approach to healing, your therapist will use a pendulum to discover which chakras are spinning in a positive way or which may be signaling to us that dysfunction may be present. Light holds of the body and other energy techniques are used to move stuck energy and create movement in our energetic bodies. Fluids generally follow energy, and this type of work can help improve overall health by creating more flow in the body.

Sample technique for stretching hip and beginning calf massage. Used in both Sports massage and Thai massage.

Trigger Point Therapy Examples
"X" marks the spot in the muscle with the "knot", and the red areas mark where you may feel the pain/tension.

Clothing on Option
You can still get great benefit from massage through fabric. Come in with comfortable clothing on if you'd rather.
